This semester, WNYF Television is adding two new shows to their schedule.
The shows are called “Knitty Gritty” and “Into the Occult.”
“Knitty Gritty” is a post-production show that features a different craft tutorial each week.
Additionally, a new guest artist will be featured on each episode.
Olivia Connor, a junior visual arts & new media and biology major, described it as a “funny but informative show that is centered around a love of crafting, trying new things and sharing local young artists’ work.”
Connor, the show’s graphic designer and first guest artist to appear on air, loved the idea of a series that showcases both “the fun and struggle that come with learning a new skill,” she said.
“I think that audiences will have a laugh while watching, but also walk away having learned something new about crafting.”
Sydney Pelino, the producer, host and editor of “Knitty Gritty” created the show based on her own hobby of knitting, along with the desire to showcase other artists on campus.
The junior video production major was inspired by some of her own favorite shows, like “The Great British Baking Show,” that bring audiences relaxation.
“Hopefully it will be Bob Ross level of calm and tranquil,” she said
“Into the Occult” is the third ghost hunting show to air on WNYF-TV.
However, this particular series is aiming for a more sitcom-like feel.
The plot centers around a teenaged boy who, in search of fame, posts homemade ghost hunting videos on YouTube.
Ryan Blatto, a sophomore video production major, has contributed a lot to the project that started out as a class assignment.
As the producer, editor and main actor on the series, Blatto is excited to create something that WNYF audiences have never seen before.
“WNYF doesn’t really have a sitcom-style comedy show,” he said.
“Knitty Gritty” airs Sunday nights at 7 p.m.
“Into the Occult” airs Monday nights at 9 p.m.
You can watch these and more WNYF shows on local Channel 8 or WNYF’s YouTube channel.
