Rockin’ The Commons: Local music event for the end of summer

The Fredonia Radio Station is presenting the annual Rockin’ The Commons event in Barker Commons on Sept. 21 — just two days before the official end of summer.

Rockin’ The Commons will feature live music from local Fredonian bands, raffles with interesting prizes (like an Echo Dot), yard games and CD sales — all conveniently happening just outside campus dorms.

It will be one of the last chances to soak up the summer.

Isabella Celeste of the radio station said there’s one thing new to the event this year that hasn’t been around previous years.

“We’ve partnered with the APO fraternity to have a table for pumpkin painting,” she said.

Local Fredonia bands performing at the event are The Weather Might Say Otherwise, TOOTH, Vintage Pretty, Halo Nellie, Superficial and Johnny and The Man Kids, along with four acapella groups: The Riveters, Premium Blend, Some Like It Hot and Dynamic Intonation.

Celeste said, “We try to stay as local as possible when choosing who to reach out to. Most of the bands have been playing in Fredonia for a while, however there is an exception; Halo Nellie is playing here for the first time.”

All proceeds from the event will go to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, an institute dedicated and chosen for the highest-quality of care they provide.
