WNYF-TV will present a trivia-based game show hosted by junior video production major, Ryan Blatto.

The show is set to air Saturday, Feb. 15 at 8:30 p.m. on channel 11.

WNYF is the student-run television station on campus. Students produce and create a wide variety of programs including, but not limited to: “The Fred Effect,” “News 11,” “Fredtown” and now, “The Game Show.”

Blatto and Emily Sando, senior video production major, are the main producers behind the show.

However, Blatto said, “The show would not be possible without the help of our amazing crew.”

When asked to give a summary of what the show will entail, Blatto said, “I quiz three contestants each episode on general trivia for three rounds, followed by a final betting round.”

The winner of each episode will receive a $25 gift card for a business in Fredonia.

Blatto said that each episode will feature a skit, incorporating the business the gift card is for. This incentive will hopefully encourage students to participate and be featured on “The Game Show.”

All creators typically have some kind of inspiration behind their work.

“Well-established game show hosts such as Gene Rayburn, Richard Dawson and Bob Eubanks all inspired me to pitch this idea,” said Blatto.

Before Blatto pitched the idea, he had to create a plan for the show.

Blatto said that creating the question board took quite a bit of time, and then elaborated on forming a crew with Sando. “We needed camera operators, writers, a technical director, audio person, someone to operate the PowerPoint and more,” said Blatto.

This is where the help of the student crew really comes into play.

Some of these student collaborators and members of WNYF include: Carl Aldinger, Cormac Clune, Crescenzo Fano, Dan Northup, Anina Vancheri, Avery Miller, Nick Fuller, Hope Winter and Dee Thomas.

There is an incredible amount of hard work, dedication and creativity that is required to produce a television show. Blatto is currently the Remote Broadcast Director. What does that mean? Blatto explains, “I am in charge of the out-of-station broadcasts, and that responsibility has broadened my spectrum of television production and what it really takes to successfully run a show. It’s really been my first hands on experience into the career that I desire to go into.”

Tune in to channel 11 or WNYF’s YouTube channel every Saturday at 8:30 p.m. to watch “The Game Show.”
