Freedom: A poem

ANONYMOUS

Special to The Leader

I made it out

Adrift in the ocean

The waves are calm

I always wait

For the inevitable crash

Drenched

Gasping for air

The calm

Deceiving

Leading to

Just

Another

Crash

A tsunami

Sweeping me up

Drowning me

Pushing me under

Forcing me to stay

Breathless

But I made it out

Treading water

Gasping

Sputtering

A calm sea surrounds me

I brace

Waiting

Watching

For the next wave

But the sea remains calm

And I have suddenly found the shore

I swim

Ready to feel the sand

And sun

And his warmth

I suddenly stand

Free of the waves

I see you

Please

Swim

Swim towards me

I am free of the waves

And I will help you find your way back to the shore
