After several on-campus dining halls and cafes closed at SUNY Fredonia last academic year, many students are wondering when — and if they will reopen.
Here is a complete list of which dining halls and cafes will be open for the fall 2022 semester.
Cranston Marche
Cranston Marche is an all-you-care to eat dining hall that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.
For breakfast, students can expect made-to-order omelets, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage and fruit.
Lunch and dinner options include fresh salad, sandwich and pasta bars, as well as fresh meals from the grill, including chicken, veggies and fish.
Cranston is also known for Burger Wednesdays, as well as having holiday celebrations with meals fitting the theme of the specific holiday. To name a few, Cranston offered heart-shaped pizza on Valentine’s Day, Mexican cheeseburgers, burritos, tacos and churros for Cinco de Mayo and succotash, cornbread and apple walnut bundt cake for Native American Heritage Month.
The dining hall is located upstairs in the University Commons, making it a central location to almost all students.
Cranston serves both hot and cold meals, and will be a dine-in only buffet style service next semester.
Inside the dining hall is a large seating area with tables and chairs to accommodate many hungry students.
Willy C’s
Willy C’s, located in its namesake building “Williams Center,” is a grab-and-go service that offers several fast food selections. Students can select and purchase their food items through kiosks located directly in front of the pick up station.
Willy C’s serves burgers, fries, pizza, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, pizza logs and soup.
The dining hall also has a deli option, where students can order toasted subs, sandwiches and wraps.
To many student’s delight, Willy C’s also serves sushi, fresh salads and all kinds of snacks, including chips, cookies, fruit, veggies, yogurt and muffins.
Willy C’s also has a large seating area available to students, with a television located towards the back of the seating area.
Starbucks
Along with Cranston Marche in the University Commons (UC), Starbucks is also a central location for many students. Starbucks is located directly below Cranston Marche on the first floor of UC, and it is to the right of the Convenience Store.
The coffee shop serves the same customer favorite food and customizable drinks as other community Starbucks locations, such as strawberry acai refreshers, caramel macchiatos, impossible breakfast sandwiches and all of your other favorites.
Those looking for a caffeine boost or a vivacious study space can find what they’re looking for at the campus Starbucks.
Convenience Store
Right next to the campus Starbucks is a convenience store stocked full of snacks, frozen dinners and necessary groceries.
The convenience store, also known as the C-Store, is a great place to spend your extra points or grab a quick snack on your way back from class. Some options available at the C-Store include instant ramen, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, pre-prepared Fredibles and other snacks.
Café Mason
Café Mason also continues to stay open next semester.
This café offers brewed coffee, bubble tea, pastries, soups, sandwiches, salads and cookies.
Café Mason is located right in Mason Hall, an academic building on campus that holds mostly music-related classes. The café also offers a nice space for music students to study, converse and enjoy their snacks with one another.
Café McEwen
Café McEwen will also be open in the fall.
This convenient café is very similar to the one in Mason Hall, but it is instead located in McEwen Hall, an academic building hosting many communication majors and other classes held in lecture halls.
This dining option is also located a few short steps away from Reed Library, the campus’ largest academic resource to students, as Reed Library and McEwen Hall are connected.
Café McEwen serves many treats such as muffins and giant cookies, and also serves wraps, breakfast sandwiches, fruit cups, yogurt and refrigerated beverages.
Students can also order brewed coffee and other similar café items.
Many of the above options offer vegan and vegetarian options.
Students can pick up a “Dining Vegan/Vegetarian at Fredonia” pamphlet in any of the dining halls to further understand how to accommodate dietary restrictions.
Students can also contact FSA or ask the employees for advice and safe food options.
