For those of you who are dreading the end of summer, you might as well turn the page because we don’t want that kind of negativity here. I’m about to go on a full fledged rant about how excited I am for the beginning of fall.

It’s my favorite for a plethora of reasons but I’ll only get into a couple for now:

1. Sweater Weather. First off, I would like to put it out there that I most definitely have a sweater problem. My collection is extensive and continuously expanding. But there’s something about waking up in the morning, dreading going to class and being able to throw on a comfy, old man-esque sweater. Everything bad about the day, and maybe even the world, somehow rights itself again.

2. Pumpkin Spice Chai. Pumpkin Spice everything really. But especially the chai. It’s like a hug in a cup. If you ever see me tweeting about having a miserable day, just bring me one of these and I’ll never be sad again . . . probably. They’re great. 10/10 would recommend.

3. Walking to Campus. So this is definitely not for those of you who hate the cold weather. When Fredonia gets chilly, it gets c h i l l y. But that’s why I love it. Bundling up in 75 layers and walking to campus is one of my favorite parts of living off campus. The leaves falling around me, the sound of them crunching under my feet, a little cloud of breath floating into the sky and the bright colors surrounding me. Sounds like heaven, right?

4. Apple Cider. Ummmm, need I say more? It’s great hot and cold. That’s all.

5. Decorating my Apartment. I don’t even mean for Halloween. We’ll get to that later. I go all out for fall. Leaf garlands, little pumpkins and gourds everywhere, twinkle lights as far as the eye can see. It’s like a little autumnal wonderland. Everything feels so cozy and perfect and I just absolutely love it.

6. Halloween. I don’t even really dress up for Halloween. Catch me watching Tim Burton movies until 5 a.m. though. I love making some creepy themed snacks, pumpkin hot chocolate and getting cozy in Halloween themed socks. If I’m feeling particularly festive, I’ll even watch a scary movie. (P.S. Don’t judge me. I’m a grandma in the body of a 20 year old.)

7. Cozy Blankets. More cozy stuff. Because what else is there to do when it’s chilly besides relaxing all day long? Fall is basically an excuse to never leave your bed.

8. Chillin’ Outside. In the same vein as walking to campus, I love just spending time outside and enjoying the weather. It’s cold but not painfully so and everything feels so intimate and surreal in the fall. It’s just the best.

Well, that’s what I’m going to leave it on. While there are plenty more things that make the upcoming season the best of them all, this list details the things I’m most looking forward to. The weather is slowly getting colder and I’m getting increasingly excited by the day. Enjoy it while it’s here and spend your time doing the things that make your heart full, like drinking copious amounts of chai lattes.
