Blue Devil Athletics welcome new assistant athletic trainers

Fredonia athletics recently gained two new assistant athletic trainers to the department: Erin Lanni and Kelly Wilson.

Before pursuing her athletic training career, Lanni attended Roanoke College, where in 2013 she received a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training. At Roanoke, she was a student assistant for the softball, men’s lacrosse, men’s basketball, women’s volleyball and women’s soccer teams. From 2011­13, Lanni also was a team manager for the men’s basketball team.

Lanni joined the athletic training department after previously holding the position of graduate assistant at Virginia Tech located in Blacksburg, Virginia.

At Virginia Tech, Lanni worked with the softball, women’s soccer and women’s volleyball teams. She received her Master of Arts degree in education, curriculum and instruction in May 2015.

Some highlights of Lanni’s athletic training career are serving as an assistant host trainer in the 2015 Atlantic Coast Conference softball tournament, working with the Salem, Virginia. High School football team and the 2013 Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl­ Division III football championship game.

Wilson is a recipient of two degrees that were earned at the University of Akron. Wilson earned a Bachelor of Science/Education degree in Athletic Training in 2012 where she graduated summa cum laude and a Master of Science in exercise physiology in 2014.

Wilson assisted the football team, men’s soccer, women’s volleyball and track and field/cross country as an undergrad assistant. As a graduate assistant, Wilson worked with women’s tennis, swimming and diving and women’s volleyball.

Throughout Wilson’s career, she has assisted as the host assistant trainer in the 2014 Big Ten women’s field hockey tournament, as well as the Big Ten women’s gymnastic tournament. She also assisted for the Michigan cheerleading and dance teams at the home football and basketball games.

Wilson will also be Fredonia’s new part­time strength and conditioning coach.
