No matter how old you are, it doesn’t hurt to be a kid again and dress up in ridiculous outfits on Halloween. Most, if not all, the players on the Portland Trail Blazers did exactly that before tip-off against the Washington Wizards. The Blazers wanted to take part in the Halloween festivities at Moda Center earlier than usual due to their next home game not happening until November.
Point guard Damian Lillard showed up to the arena dressed as WWE wrestler “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Surprisingly, Steve Austin took to Twitter to approve Lillard’s outfit by tweeting “Oh Hell Yeah!!!”
The funniest costume of them all was small forward Moe Harkless appearing as “The Chappelle Show” character Tyrone Biggums. Center Jusuf Nurkicć got creative and arrived dressed as the Beast from “Beauty and the Beast.”
Rookie’s Gary Trent Jr. and Anfernee Simmons didn’t shy away from participating with the rest of their teammates. Trent Jr. wore a kangaroo costume, and Simmons wore a costume that depicts a man on top of a bird.
A fan responded to a post of the rookie’s Halloween costume by saying, “If you can own it, dressing up as an adult is still funny and cool.”
However, the Wizards knocked the Blazers off their Halloween spirit by handing them their first loss of the season in overtime 125- 124.
Despite the loss to Washington, the Blazers are off to a good start to begin the 2018-2019 season. They are currently 3-1 and 4th in the Western Conference. Lillard has been putting up M-V-P numbers the last few games as he’s been averaging 31.8 points per game, 6.8 assists per game and 5.8 rebounds per game.
The Los Angeles Lakers are a highlighted opponent on the Blazers schedule this weekend. The Blazers faced against LeBron and the Lakers earlier in the season, resulting in a win. Portland will be looking to make their record against the Lakers 2-0 this Saturday at home.
Editor’s note: At the time that this article was written, the Portland Trail Blazers were 3-1.
