Over the course of the last week, the Fredonia Swimming & Diving team competed in the SUNYAC championships. The event was split up between eight different sessions, beginning on Wednesday with the first two. Fredonia only had relays the first day, with a men’s fifth place finish and ladies seventh place finish in the 800 yard freestyle relay.
Thursday saw more action for the Blue Devils with junior Christian Krasnek and sophomore Patrick McCormick finishing second and fourth in the one meter dive. Krasnek had a score of 489.85 points and McCormick totaled 448.05 points.
Sophomore Drew Page finished seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:00.22.
Consolation finalists were junior Brad Zifra, finishing 12th in the 200 IM in 2:00.08; freshman Zachary Dean with 14th in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:51.51 and junior Cameron Criss placing 13th in the 50 free in 21.83.
Fredonia’s 200-yard freestyle relay finished third Thursday night in a time of 1:25.62 and the Blue Devils were sixth in the 400-yard medley relay.
On the third day of the event, Fredonia senior Jacob Favret placed second in 100-yard breaststroke and Andrew Stoffel placed 16th.
Drew Page placed seventh in the 400-yard individual medley. In the 100 yard backstroke, Charlie May placed 10th. Brad Zifra came in 13th place in the 100-yard butterfly. Kaden Cole was 15th in the 200-yard freestyle.
In Friday’s only relay, the Blue Devils were fifth in the 200-yard medley.
For the women’s team on Thursday, McKayla Polowy tied a school record with a time of 5:13.09, which placed fifth in the 500 yard freestyle.
Fredonia had three individuals reach the consolation finals — Alyson Baumann was twelfth in the 200-yard individual medley. In the 50 freestyle, Erin Kalsman was fourteenth and Mikayla Reynolds was fifteenth.
The evening session included two relays. The Blue Devils were sixth in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 400-yard medley relay, they came in eighth place.
On Friday, Alyson Baumann and McKayla Polowy finished fifth and sixth in the 200 yard freestyle finals.
In the 100 backstroke, Mikayla Reynolds finished in 13th.
In the only relay event of the day, the 200 yard medley placed seventh in the field of nine.
