Bills beaten by own mistakes

DANTE LASTING

Assistant Sports Editor

The Buffalo Bills’ winning streak came to an end on Sunday.

Coming into this game, it was said that in order to win, the Bills would have to play mistake-free football. This game was far from that. They lost 16-10 to their rival New England Patriots. The Bills defense showed up and made Tom Brady look his age, but the offense was nowhere to be found. Josh Allen threw three interceptions in what looked like the worst game of his career. The Patriots defense made the Bills quarterback look confused and uncomfortable the entire game. Allen did get knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter by a nasty helmet to helmet hit by corner Jonathan Jones. At this point, it is uncertain how long it will take for Allen to come back from this concussion.

Although this was a tough loss for Buffalo, it does not define their season.

It is a wake up call for the Bills, and it showed what changes and adjustments need to be made for the rest of the season. The special teams need to play better, and that starts with the punter. The offense needs a true number one wide receiver to help a young and growing quarterback in Allen. The defense needs to start getting to the opposing quarterback and get some sacks.

The Bills are still in a great place after four weeks. They have won three out of four games and had flashes of greatness. Buffalo has an easy schedule in the coming weeks. One road trip, a bye week and then three straight home games. If they can get back to full health, the Bills could go on another win streak.

This Sunday, the Buffalo Bills (3-1) will face the Tennessee Titans (2-2) in the Music City, Nashville. Both teams have had their ups and downs throughout this season, and will look to add another win on Sunday. If Allen can’t go in this game, they will count on backup Matt Barkley to help lead the team. With Buffalo having a bye week after this, the Bills might take a cautious approach with Allen and give him more time to get back to full health.

The game is on CBS at 1 p.m.
