Fredonia sports update

ANTHONY GETTINO

Special to The Leader

This past weekend, the women’s soccer team opened up conference play at home. They faced off against Plattsburgh and Potsdam.

Both games took overtime to finish, with the first a 3-3 tie and the second a 2-1 win.

“I think we are feeling pretty good and positive. Beating Potsdam was a huge step in the right direction, and we also tied Plattsburgh, so we left that week with four out of six points. I think we are excited and ready to work and battle Oneonta and New Paltz on the road this weekend,” junior Lynda Croft, said.

The Blue Devils are 4-4-1 on the season and look to keep unbeaten in conference play this weekend when they travel to face Oneonta and New Paltz Friday and Saturday.

Other teams will be competing this weekend as well.

The men’s soccer team plays Oneonta Friday and New Paltz Saturday in Fredonia.

The volleyball team is competing at Brockport Friday and Geneseo Saturday.

The tennis team is squaring off against Oneonta on Friday, New Paltz on Saturday and Plattsburgh on Sunday in Binghamton.

The men’s and women’s cross country teams are traveling to compete at the Highlander Invitational in Houghton.
