Buffalo Bills get a gritty win

DANTE LASTING

Assistant Sports Editor

The Buffalo Bills were rockin’ and rollin’ in the Music City on Sunday.

Coming into this game, everybody knew it was going to be a close one, especially since the past three meetings ended with a Bills win by just one point.

The Bills played a tough, physical game against the Tennessee Titans, coming away with a 14-7 win.

The defense held the Titans to only 183 passing yards and one score. They racked up five sacks against Mariota and made the Titans go three and out on six drives throughout the game.

Buffalo got very lucky in that the Titans kicker had a very off day. He missed all four field goals that he attempted, and those 12 points would have changed the game entirely.

The Bills offense did what they needed to do to win the game. Allen threw for 219 yards and two touchdowns. He led the Bills to his sixth game-winning drive of his career. He found fan-favorite wide receiver Duke Williams in the endzone for the score. He was just brought up from the practice squad on Saturday. He caught his first NFL touchdown in his first NFL game.

Although Josh Allen played better in this game than he did versus the Patriots, he still has a lot to work on. Allen threw a bad interception in the third quarter that gave the Titans the momentum to get into the game.

It seems like every week there is at least one foolish play by him, and as we saw last week, it is hard to come back from those when facing playoff-level football teams.

Next week, the Bills have a bye week which comes at a perfect time. A good number of players went down with injuries on Sunday, but they will have a full week of rest to get fully healthy.

The Bill’s next opponent is the Miami Dolphins, and they come to New Era Field on Oct. 20. Buffalo is in good standing with a 4-1 record heading into the bye and three straight home games to follow.
