The Buffalo Sabres are currently third in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference.
They had quite the eventful start and slowly have been fizzling out.
Will it be a repeat of last year?
Their overall record at the moment is 14-11-6.
The home record is 8-3-3 and the away record is 6-8-3.
Their recent game against the Oilers on Sunday Dec. 8 was a huge win for Buffalo.
The final score was 3-2 in overtime.
The Sabres had 22 shots on goal, whereas the Oilers had 28.
In the nature of the Sabres season, Buffalo failed to score three times despite having the man advantage.
They did not even manage to make a shot on goal with the advantage.
What brought the game to a tie and brought it into overtime was allowing a power play goal.
In better news, Jack Eichel continued on with his scoring streak.
He extended it to 13 games and also was credited the assist on the game-winning score in overtime.
The game-winning shot was off of Colin Miller.
This was his first score as a Sabre and made the game.
Eichel still remains the 2019-2020 team leader in goals, assists and points.
Eichel has improved more and more with every season and is on an impressive stretch for Buffalo this year.
He has 41 points in his first 30 games.
This includes seven total points between five assists and two goals in four games in the last week alone.
Will he keep it up and bring the Sabres back on track in time for playoffs?
Buffalo can only hope.
As of Monday, Dec. 9, the Buffalo Sabres are ranked #14 out of 31 in the NHL in terms of scoring statistics
Their next couple games this week are Thursday, Dec. 12 against the Predators at home and Saturday, Dec. 14 against the Islanders in New York City.
