Bills dominate in home-opener against Jets

The Buffalo Bills hosted the New York Jets on Sunday, Sept. 13, for the first game of the 2020 season.

With no fans in attendance for the game, it looked quite different for both viewers at home and the players on the field.

Despite not having the Bills Mafia in attendance, they were able to pull through with a 27-17 victory.

Josh Allen and newcomer Stefon Diggs were the main attraction Sunday afternoon as they connected eight times, totaling 86 yards throughout the game.

Buffalo scored two times in the first quarter and would continue their offensive dominance into the second quarter as Allen passed to a running John Brown for a 17-yard-scoring play.

After their third touchdown, the Bills were able to run the ball all the down to the Jets 13, but as Allen was tackled, he fumbled the ball. This play would result in the Jets scoring for the first time in the game as they would go on to the Bills 13 from their own.

Jets kicker Sam Fiken would put away a 31 yard field goal with three seconds left in the half.

The second half of the game was mainly Jets offense as they would go on to score two touchdowns in the third and in the fourth.

Jamison Crowder’s touchdown in the third was the longest touchdown play in the game as he carried the ball 69 yards in total for the Jets.

Though Buffalo had no touchdowns in the second half, rookie Tyler Bass, who replaced fan favorite Stephen Hauschka, was able to sink two field goals for the Bills after missing his first two attempts in the first half.

Allen had a total of 306 passing yards compared to Sam Darnolds 202. Allen’s 306 passing yards was a first for not only him, but any Bills quarterback since Tyrod Taylor in Week 16 of the 2016 season.

Buffalo will travel to Miami next week to face the Dolphins, who are coming off of a 21-11 loss to the New England Patriots.

Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m. from Hard Rock Stadium. This will be Miami’s home-opener and fans will be in attendance at a limited capacity. Tune in to your local CBS station to watch.
