This past week, we saw three of our six fall sports teams compete.

A Soccer Ball on the Grass

Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams had the weekend off. Saturday, both teams will be traveling to Geneseo for the Mike Woods Invitational.

The women’s tennis team also did not compete this past week. Both of their matches were not held.

This is the end of the fall section of the season for the team, as they will continue in the spring

The women’s volleyball team had an important week for their SUNYAC standing. In their two home games of the weekend, they faced off against Oswego Friday and Cortland Saturday.

In their Friday night competition, the Blue Devils made it interesting before coming up with the win in five sets.

The team took the first two sets before Oswego pulled back into the match with two set wins of their own. The team then composed themselves and took charge of the final set for the win.

In their second match of the weekend versus Cortland, the Blue Devils got off to a slow start and were never able to recover from it.

The team dropped the first two sets of the match before taking the third. Cortland took the fourth and final set to win 1-3.

Brinn Shaughnessy and Emily Jones stood out in both matches from the weekend, each leading the team in kills once apiece.

The team will go on the road this week, first at Plattsburgh on Friday before traveling to Potsdam on Saturday for two SUNYAC matches.

The men’s soccer team split their two games of the week, with the first a 5-0 win over Alfred on Tuesday. Scoring for the Blue Devils in the match were Dominic Monti, Kaleb Steward, Jacob Vallas, Matt Cullen and Jay Merlo.

In the weekend match against Buffalo State, the Blue Devils were unable to secure the win on the road losing 2-6.

Scoring in the match for Fredonia were Jimmy Doran and Kevin Loftus.

The team was unable to hold their 2-1 lead they created in the second half, as Buffalo State would score five straight goals in the second half to win.

This week the Blue Devils will first play host to Nazareth on Tuesday before weekend matchups against SUNYAC competitors Cortland and Oswego Friday and Saturday afternoon.

The women’s soccer team also split their two matchups this week.

In the first game the team lost 1-2 to Allegheny on the road. Gabby Alston scored the lone goal of the match for Fredonia State.

In their weekend showing against SUNYAC for Buffalo State, the Blue Devils won handily in 5-0 fashion.

Scoring for Fredonia were Gabby Alston and Izzy Audette with one goal each and Katie Sellers with a three goal hat trick of the afternoon.

Fredonia will go on the road this upcoming weekend Friday against Cortland and Saturday versus Oswego, both of which are SUNYAC members.
