This past week had just three of our sports teams in action. Both men’s and women’s soccer teams and the women’s volleyball team had multiple matches.

The women’s soccer team had two home games against SUNYAC competition and ended the week with one win and one loss.

In their first match, Fredonia beat Potsdam 2–0. Scoring for the Blue Devils was Sophie Richiusa off of two second chances from corner kicks.

In the second game, Fredonia couldn’t get the ball past the Plattsburgh goalie. This resulted in a 0–2 loss at home. The team is now 8–4–1 overall and 3–2 in conference competition.

This week Fredonia will face off against Penn State Behrend Tuesday on the road before a long weekend trip to face New Paltz Friday and Oneonta Saturday.

The men’s soccer team also split their two games of the week.

In their Friday night road contest the Blue Devils got their first SUNYAC win of the season in a 1–0 fashion over Potsdam. Nick Aufiero scored the lone goal of the match.

The second game of the road trip ended in a 1–2 loss to Plattsburgh. Domenic Monti scored Fredonia’s goal in the match.

The team is now 6–7 overall and 1–4 in SUNYAC play. This week features home matches against New Paltz Friday and Oneonta Saturday for the Blue Devils.

Women’s volleyball won both of their matches this past weekend. Both games were played at home in Dods Hall.

In both matches the team was able to win in three set sweeps against Oneonta and New Paltz.

The first match had a close first set that the Blue Devils were able to pull through before smoothly sailing the rest of the way. Christie Ackendorf and Emily Jones each had 11 kills for the team.

The second match of the weekend had Fredonia clicking on all cylinders like the end of the game before the first two sets before a tight third set which featured a rally from Fredonia to come out on top.

The team will go on the road this weekend to face Geneseo Friday and Brockport Saturday.

The mens and women’s cross country teams will travel to Oberlin College for the Inter-Regional Rumble Saturday.
