Fredonia Sports Update (02.07.2022)

The men’s hockey team lost to Potsdam Friday 2–6

  • Kieran Furlonger and Johan Zollner each scored a goal

The team lost to Plattsburgh 1–13 Saturday on the road

  • Parker Brakebill scored Fredonia’s only goal of the game

The Blue Devils travel to Geneseo Friday before a home game against Brockport Saturday this week.

The men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Brockport Saturday

  • Jared Hecht placed second in the Mile (4:37.15)
  • Nick Abdo ran 50.96 to earn second overall in the 400m
  • Josh Walters placed second in the 800m (1:59.33)
  • Haley Lerner placed third in the pole vault (10 feet 6 inches)
  • Toby Onuoha placed second overall in the triple jump (13.91m)

The team will travel to Boston, Mass. this weekend.

Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams traveled to Cortland

  • Noah Wisniewski placed second in the 100 backstroke (1:00.76) and third in the 200 backstroke (2:22.72)
  • Ian Hilldale placed third in both the 50 free (23.61) and the 200 free (1:53.55)
  • Riker Smith, Samuel Cottrell and Tyler Conti each placed third in their respective events
  • McKayla Polowy won the 500 free (5:29.57) and 1,000 free (11:16.42), while also taking second in the 200 free (2:02.24)
  • Kayla Hagen won the 50 free (26.07) and placed second in the 100 free (56.74)
  • Mindy Doktor won the 200 IM (2:07.05) and placed third in the 200 butterfly (2:30.63)

The Blue Devils travel to Buffalo next weekend for the SUNYAC Championships.

Men’s basketball lost to Cortland at home Tuesday 66–89

  • Aaron Collins scored 15 points and added 5 rebounds
  • Matt Abersold added 11 points

The team’s weekend games were postponed due to weather conditions. 

Fredonia will travel to Buffalo State Saturday.

The women’s basketball team lost to Cortland 48–76

  • Katie Pitcher had 10 points and 3 steals
  • Lauren Mickley had 10 points
