Fredonia Sports Update (02.14.2022)

The men’s track and field team traveled to Boston, Mass. for the David Hemery Valentine Invitational last weekend.

  • Nick Abdo ran 49.33 in the 400m and 22.20 in the 200m. The 200m time earned Abdo the school record for the indoor 200m
  • Toby Onuoha ran 50.29 in the 400m and 23.09 in the 200m
  • Josh Walters went 1:57.09 in the 800m, while Jared Hecht and Zack Peterman ran the mile race.

Both the men’s and women’s track and field teams travel to Nazareth Friday for a conference tune up before SUNYACs. 

Men’s and women’s swimming and diving have their SUNYAC Championships this week, from Feb. 16 through Feb. 19.

Women’s basketball lost to New Paltz Monday 43–58

  • Lauren Mickley and Isabella Wier each scored 10 points
  • Mary Culeton added eight points and 10 assists

The team traveled to Buffalo State Saturday and lost in a score of 62–72

  • Renee Parker had 22 points and three blocks
  • Isabella Wier added 12 points

The Blue Devils will host Brockport Tuesday before traveling to Geneseo Friday and Oswego Saturday.

The men’s basketball team lost to New Paltz Monday 75–89

  • Aaron Collins had 25 points
  • Kreem George and Jacob Hougan each added 17 points

The Blue Devils fell to Buffalo State 75–79 in overtime

  • Aaron Collins had 26 points
  • Kreem George tallied 16 points and eight rebounds

The team will host Brockport Tuesday before traveling to Geneseo Friday and Oswego Saturday to close out the regular season.

Hockey beat Brockport at home Saturday 4–0. The team’s game Friday against Geneseo was postponed.

  • Matt Letmanski scored two goals
  • Ethan Kirbis and John Aonso each added a goal

The Blue Devils will host Oswego Friday and Cortland Saturday to finish their regular season schedule.
