WOMEN’S SOCCER

Following two losses to begin the season, the Fredonia women’s soccer team has gone unbeaten over their last four games.

In that span, the Blue Devils have won three games and tied once.

On Thursday, Sept. 14, the team traveled to Hamburg, N.Y. for a matchup with Hilbert College.

In a goal-scoring barrage, the Blue Devils defeated Hilbert 8-1.

Senior forward Bri Grazen and freshman forward Bronwyn Madden each scored twice, and freshman midfielder Haley Drinon recorded two assists.

Fredonia recorded 25 shots on goal, compared to only five for Hilbert.

With the win, the Blue Devils surpassed their win total from 2022, a season in which they only won two games.

The team will be in action again at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 as they host Geneseo in their first SUNYAC matchup of the season.

MEN’S SOCCER

Through the first seven games of the season, the Fredonia men’s soccer team remains undefeated with a record of 4-0-3.

On Friday, Sept. 15, junior forward Brian Taylor scored just over four minutes into the game on the way to a 5-2 victory over Pitt-Bradford.

Taylor’s goal was his team-leading sixth of the season.

Junior forward Kaleb Steward scored twice, bringing his season goals total to five.

Sophomore forward Chance LaCroix added a goal and two assists in the win.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, the Blue Devils traveled to Hamburg, N.Y. to face Hilbert College, extending a three-game win streak with a 2-1 win.

Despite surrendering a penalty kick goal just 47 seconds into the game, junior midfielder Camron Walsh added one of his own near the end of the first half.

Walsh scored again in the 85th minute to seal the victory.

The Blue Devils outshot Hilbert 23-4, and recorded 11 shots on goal compared to only three for Hilbert.

Fredonia will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20 as they travel to Geneseo to begin conference play.

VOLLEYBALL

On Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Sept. 16, Fredonia’s volleyball team traveled south to Meadville, P.A. in search of their second win of the season.

On Friday, the Blue Devils fell to Allegheny, losing the first two sets 25-13 before dropping a nailbiter of a third set, 26-24.

Freshman outside hitter Kylie O’Brien led the team in kills with six, while junior outside hitter Gabrielle Sordetto recorded five and sophomore outside hitter Emma Foley tallied four.

Freshman setter Molly Cassidy recorded a game-high 18 assists.

On Saturday against Hiram, Fredonia lost the first set 25-22 before dropping each of the next two by a score of 25-18.

Sordetto led the team in kills with seven, while O’Brien tallied six and sophomore outside hitter Grace Kusmierz had four.

Freshman libero Sasha Zayatz led the team in aces with three and in digs with six.

The weekend’s results brought the team’s record to 1-8.

The Blue Devils will be back at home at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 19 as they take on Pitt-Bradford.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

After notching their first win since 2021 on Monday, Sept. 11, the Blue Devils faced Geneseo in their first road conference matchup of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 13, ultimately falling 8-1.

Junior Sierra Allen took home the victory in fifth singles (6-1, 6-1), a victory that turned out to be the only one for Fredonia in the match.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, the Blue Devils traveled south to Pennsylvania to take on Grove City, falling 9-0.

Freshman Lucy Prevet, a Fredonia native, took her singles match to three sets, ultimately falling 11-9 in that set.

Fredonia has some time off before their next match, a 5 p.m. tilt with Daemen at home on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

CROSS COUNTRY

Fredonia’s men’s and women’s cross country teams were off this weekend in preparation for their next meet, the Kara Hall Memorial Invite, which is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 30 on campus.
