PAIGE TAYLOR
Special to The Leader

Good evening, Gals and Ghouls! It’s that time of the year once again.
Spooky season is here!
There is the smell of crisp leaves in the air, pumpkin spice everywhere you look and Michael Myers is on the hunt again.
As your resident “fall girl,” I’m here to tell you all the best ways to get ready for All Hallows’ Eve.
For starters, you need a pumpkin.
Carve it, eat it, wear it or take it to Homecoming for all I care.
Do whatever you like, but acquiring at least one is paramount in order for spooky season to officially begin.
You can maximize your fall experience by going to the pumpkin patch to acquire your pumpkin. One of my favorites in the area is Awald Farms.
You should check it out. Tell them Paige sent you; it will get you nothing!
Now that you have acquired your pumpkin, you can get up to other spooky season activities, like decorating.
There are many different directions you can take with your decorating theme.
If you are more of an Autumn Harvest vibe, I recommend lots of natural reds, oranges and browns. Fall foliage and pumpkins will be your best friends.
If you’re going after that witchy gothic vibe, I recommend lots of blacks and purples. Lunar decorations are another great option for this aesthetic.
If you are more of a cozy, classic type of person, keep it simple. Orange and purple lights, some spiderwebs, and smiley ghost cutouts.
Whatever your vibe is, get decorating! Nothing puts you in the spirit like a haunted dorm room.
If you enjoy the culinary arts, it is the perfect time to start some fall baking! Think of the possibilities!
Pumpkin bread, chai pumpkin cookies, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin pie – my God, it’s the world’s most versatile gourd!
If you don’t like pumpkin, I have good news. It’s also apple season!
Try your hand at an apple crisp or cobbler.
And if you have no culinary skills, there are always those sugar cookies at the grocery store that look like pumpkins and ghosts.
I believe in you; you will not burn them this time.
Now I know what you’re thinking, “Great idea Paige, except I live in a dorm with no oven!!!”
And to that I say, it’s the perfect time to remind your parents how much they miss you.
And that they have not seen you in a month.
So, they should send a care package with baked goods — and money — because they feel bad.
Finally, plan a fun spooky get-together with your friends!
You can theme it around anything. Pumpkin carving, costume making, a horror movie marathon, whatever floats your boat.
My friends and I like to get together, have a fall soup potluck and watch old Disney Channel Halloween movies.
Is it really Fall if you haven’t watched “Halloweentown” yet? Or the definitive best Halloween DCOM, “Phantom of the Megaplex”, argue with the wall, I’m right!
Well folks, I hope this helped you get inspired with ways to kick Spooky season off right!
And do not forget to look over your shoulder; Michael Myers could be slowly lurking towards you right this very moment!
