Every year, Fredonia Radio Systems hosts Rockin’ the Commons as a fundraiser for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The fundraiser featured live music, food, games, basket raffles and more. The event typically occurs in fall and takes place in Barker Commons, located in downtown Fredonia — hence the “commons” part of Rockin’ the Commons.

According to an email from frs@fredonia.edu, the fundraiser “raised just over $1,670 for Roswell Park” this year. “For comparison, in 2019, the last time we had the event, we raised around $1,400,” the email added.

Difficulties from the COVID-19 made it challenging to plan the event in 2020. Rockin’ the Commons 2021 was initially planned for fall, then had to be cancelled due to a reservation of Barker Commons mistake by the village. The event was rescheduled for April 9, 2022 in Barker Commons, then got relocated to the Williams Center Multi-Purpose Room on April 8 due to weather conditions.
