From the desk of Elyse Grieco, Editor in Chief

When I get stressed, music is the only thing that helps. No matter what the issue may be, I’m always able to sit back, plug in my headphones and forget about the world around me.

Finals are around the corner, and stress is high. Here are five of my favorite feel-good songs to help lift some pressure off
your shoulders.

“Sleepyhead” by Passion Pit

This is my all-time favorite song. Between the beat and the lyrics, it’s impossible to not want to dance when you hear it.

Favorite lyrics: “And everything is going to the beat”

“TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME” by The 1975

Any song by The 1975 is a bop, but this one in particular has the power to instantly change my mood. The synthesized beat of the song is both groovy, yet calm. It’s the perfect song to jam to with your friends, or listen to in your room while you study.

Favorite lyrics: “I think we need to rewind

You text that boy sometimes

Must be more than three times

I didn’t mean to two-time you, two-time you”

“Mr. Jones” by Counting Crows

It’s safe to say this is a classic bop. It’s one of those songs that you can’t help yourself from singing along to, and an absolute must when it comes to karaoke.

Favorite lyrics: “I wanna be Bob Dylan

Mr. Jones wishes he was someone just a little more funky

When everybody loves you

Oh! Son, that’s just about as funky as you can be”

“3 Nights” by Dominic Fike

This is a song I discovered over the summer, so naturally when I listen to it, I’m reminded of driving with the windows down and the sun on my face. The song is a catchy summer tune that puts a smile on my face every time I
hear it.

Favorite lyrics: “So I get lost in modern music watchin’ movies

Talkin’ to the walls in my room

Walkin’ through the halls in my head

Just tryna make sure it all makes sense”

“Changing of the Seasons” by Two Door Cinema Club

This song is about new beginnings. It’s about letting go and starting over. It’s the perfect song to listen to when you feel stuck. No matter what, there’s always something you can change.

Favorite lyrics: “When you say you won’t forget me

I can tell you that’s not true

‘Cause every day since you left me

I’ve thought less and less of you”
