Hello!
We are HiFidelity, The House Husband, and Bumblebee: producers and hosts of the radio show Lovercall, right here at Fredonia. Lovercall is an anonymous late-night talk show about love, relationships and more. Students who are guests on the show use codenames to protect their identities when discussing potentially personal topics, hence the codenames of the writers of this column. This is your reminder that none of the hosts or guests are professionals, and everything stated is based on personal experiences.
“HiFidelity” is a 19-year-old genderfluid who uses they/them pronouns and is a sophomore at Fredonia.
“The House Husband” is a 20-year-old cisgender man who uses he/him pronouns and is a junior at Fredonia.
“Bumblebee” is a 20-year-old questioning person who uses he/she/they pronouns and is a junior at Fredonia.
On each episode, the hosts and guests of Lovercall participate in a variety of segments. The cast discusses a relevant news story, a date idea, a wacky game and a main topic for the episode.
Listeners can submit their questions or seek advice either via Fredonia Radio’s Instagram, @fredonia_radio, on YikYak, or through the QR code provided in this column.
We answer your questions live on the radio, then add them to this column in case you missed the episode.
The show will broadcast weekly throughout the semester on Wednesday nights from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. on WDVL 89.5 on www.fredoniaradio.com.

Date idea of the week
We hope to provide fellow students with a fun and unique date idea in every episode. These date ideas aren’t just for romantic partners — you could go with your friends, classmates or can even go solo just to have some fun.
For this week’s date idea, we’re going to do a little heart stopping shopping go thrifting!
With rising prices, and still wanting to switch up your outfits with something new, thrifting is right for you!
You can get ready for fall and even Halloween by picking out your costume at a thrift store while being casual.
It’s also an excuse to make several new discoveries about their style or even see how creative they may be with outfits.
Not only that but since the clothes are usually cheap, this is your excuse to pick out outfits for each other to wear later.
You want him to wear that cool hoodie you found with your favorite band on it?
It’s right there, it’s cheap, and you can find so much more than clothes at thrift stores!
You can find old movies, crafts you can finish, or even just get a romantic candle for that homemade dinner later.
While this may not be a first date idea, it is still fun to get to know someone with this as a 2nd or 3rd date.
Just remember to wash everything after you get it!
LEGENDARY LOVERS
Love is a timeless thing, and with that being the case, there is a multitude of Legendary Lovers throughout the decades.
Love stories have been told for years, from Romeo and Juliet to Pam and Jim, we have connected to the love we see in stories, on screen, and throughout history.
While love can be Legendary, it can also be infamous. According to Historyhit.com, JFK and Marylin Monroe met in February of 1962, and what followed was a brief affair.
This affair took place at Bing Crosby’s house in Palm Springs, and Marylin Monroe allegedly had dreams of becoming the First Lady, which she wrote to Jackie Kennedy about.
While the affair between JFK and Monroe was short lived, Bobby Kennedy had a much longer affair with Monroe.
Historyhit also alleges that Bobby Kennedy could have arranged for Monroe to be murdered.
While that Love affair is one that is, regrettably, in the history books, there are some relationships in history and in pop culture that are to be sought after.
One of the most prevalent love stories that you can find in popular media is Pam and Jim, a story that is told in the hit mockumentary “The Office.”
Whether you know of the love and tragedy that led up to it through watching the show yourself, or watching an edit on TikTok of Jim yearning for Pam, you know that the love they share has become a popular one.
Jim and his struggles to be with Pam are something that a lot of people can relate to.
His struggles to find that love that transcends any love for another is how people can feel sometimes. When feeling this way, you can get bogged down in the sadness, but one of the best traits of Jim Halpert is that his charm and his personality never fades; he can always get back into it, and be himself.
We here at Lovercall are not professionals, but we advise that you love with yourself and who you are being the basis of what you come back to.
You are who you are, with or without a lover. If you can find that love without changing yourself, it will be the best love you have ever found.
Another love story that you can find in the real world this time is that of Zendaya and Tom Holland, a modern-day story of a power couple.
Zendaya has been a leading actress in several hit films, while also being on TIME’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world list.
Starting out as a Disney Channel actor, she performed in several shows you may remember as a kid, such as Shake It Up and K.C Undercover.
This wasn’t the end of her TV career, or the accolades that followed, because of her outstanding performance in the drama series Euphoria.
Her movies have grossed $9.8 billion worldwide, while also receiving several prestigious awards for her movies, including two Emmys and a Golden Globe.
Tom Holland has nothing to scoff at though, as he has been an actor since a very early age. He went from dancing classes at nine to one of the highest grossing actors in the world.
Tom Holland is an international superstar for his portrayal of Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
He plays this role in four standalone movies, along with Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame, some of the highest grossing movies of all time.
They both star in the Spider-Man MCU movies, where their relationship sparked while they played lovers as one of the most popular couples in Marvel; MJ and Peter.
While they began their relationship in 2021, they didnt get married until this year, being secretly engaged in December of 2024.
Their relationship, and the way it happened, and the power couple they are, sharing the world stage is inspiring. One thing that is very inspiring about their relationship as well is the fact that they share that stage while sharing seperate accomplishments.
One of the best accomplishments you can have in any relationship is seeing your partner succeed in life, and that is something that these two have in spades.
