[SATIRE] Look out Fredonia Twitter, The Leader’s making some changes

To say that the internet is a mixed bag would be an understatement. There are trolls and memers, there are political extremists getting into scraps with everyday citizens and most importantly, there are spheres of fandom that revolve entirely around the works and actions of today’s biggest stars.

With the online world becoming more and more vicious, it’s important to cement yourself into points and groups that interest you, in order to avoid being shuffled into the cesspool of fascism and heartless posting. In an attempt to stay relevant in this ever-shifting web-wide tidal wave, The Leader’s official Twitter account will now be posting only about Megan Thee Stallion.

As a musician, Stallion has mastered putting her name at the top of the charts. With instant classics such as “Savage,” “Cry Baby” and the controversial “WAP,” she’s made herself an unforgettable performer for the 21st century, and so we must stan.

Also, Megan Thee Stallion is a wonderful role model for young women. Having confidence in your body and your autonomy is crucial for adults everywhere, but the stifling male gaze has fabricated a harmful idea of young women using their bodies to entertain men. Hot Girl Meg, as she is known on Twitter, makes it very clear in her language and actions that she is doing what she does for herself, as opposed to anyone else. She is confident in her skin, and that’s important for a woman of color to feel in the destructive white-centric patriarchy of the information age.

The Leader’s social media coordinators have DM’d Ms. Thee Stallion to see if she would be interested in collaborating with the newspaper, but we have not yet heard back from her. Fingers are crossed, though, as I am terribly curious about what she would be interested in writing for Fredonia’s student-run paper. Until then, we will continue to post fan edits of Stallion and retweet her own posts, in an effort to show our appreciation.
