Downtown Fredonia was filled with excited residents and returning students at the end of August with the Fredonia Farm Festival.
The festival was held Aug. 26–28 in Barker Commons, and featured countless local vendors selling a variety of goods including jewelry, honey, fresh produce and homemade crafts.
Every inch of Barker Commons was filled with tables, tents and people exploring.
Several food trucks serving snacks such as curly fries, fried dough and smoothies decorated the festival, and live music could be heard across the event.
One vendor, Jaime Foster of W&W Creations, was enthusiastic about the Fredonia Farm Festival.
“It’s great to see everybody out here with all the creativity and local music,” she said. Foster sold handmade jewelry and wall art. Several SUNY Fredonia students made it out to the festival.
Abby Elliott, a senior dance major, said, “My favorite part was being able to walk around and see all the different booths, but also having the food trucks and vendors were great since it was like our own mini fair.”
For SUNY Fredonia students, Fall 2022 is the first semester without strict COVID-19 restrictions since Spring 2020. Because of this, many were excited to get back to a more “normal” college experience.
“I really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially since everything has been socially distanced for so long,” said Liv Frazier, a senior English major. “It felt nice, and (the event) really fostered a sense of community between the school and the town.”
Overall the Fredonia Farm Festival had a big turnout, with hundreds of people attending the event.
