The boil water order in Fredonia has now been lifted.
Students and faculty were notified at 12:32 p.m. today with an email from Marketing and Communications.
The order was issued on Friday, Sept. 19 after two samples came back contaminated.
Water from the faucet at Crosby’s in Fredonia tested positive for E. coli, while water from the personal tap at Culligan tested positive for chloroform, according to Mayor Michael Ferguson.
Ferguson said in an earlier interview with The Leader that he is “99% confident” that the recent agreement to join the North Chautauqua County Water District (NCCWD) will end boil water orders in the future.
However, that plan is expected to take a few years to fully implement.
