Thoughts of a soon-to-be graduate

ISABELLA DISTEFANO

It’s a scary time to be a soon-to-be college graduate.

Just a month ago, I was talking to those around me about graduation and moving on from SUNY Fredonia. Each one of us was discussing our plans and the paths we wanted to go down.

Each one of us had a plan.

For the past few weeks, I have been cooped up in my bed, trying to find the motivation to glance back at that plan.

You see, I enjoy planning. I like to have things figured out.

Since January, I have been applying to job positions for news producers. I have been looking up apartments and communities within those areas I’ve applied to.

Each day I did something to further my job search and benefit my career one way or another.

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve seriously sat down and done something to advance my career. That’s weird for me. That’s unusual.

There is a plan that I’ve been working on for months that no longer can be used.

It’s taken some time for me to accept that my senior year is cut two months short. It’s taken some time to accept that I won’t see the people that I’ve grown to love these past few years. We won’t be able to make a few last memories. It’s depressing to think about.

We all thought we were going to be walking across that stage in two months, but that just isn’t possible right now.

That is no longer a part of the plan. It’s crazy.

The old plan may be in the trash, but as I said, I enjoy planning. If you are anything like me, you have plan A, plan B and so on.

Plan A is gone, and plan B is up for revisions.
