The lady Blue Devils are at it again. The women’s softball team gained two more SUNYAC wins this Saturday against Oswego.

Beating Oswego by a score of 5-2, the start to Fredonia’s comeback came when junior Madeline Medina hit a two-run double, and Fredonia took advantage of Oswego’s defensive errors. Hitting a double and a single, junior Lindsey Forness started Fredonia’s hitting streak, which was continued when junior Alyssa Morgan had an RBI single, and senior Kate Nicholson scored two runs to help out the eight-hit inning. Senior Kelsey Gannett pitched one of the best games in Blue Devil history with a 14-strikeout game matching Casey Mazaurek for second best game. This win brought Gannett to 6-2 for the season.

Twelve hits in game two were led by Forness with a double and two singles, lifting her batting average to a team-high of .455. Freshman Maggie Paras and Forness also had two RBIs, breaking open the game for the Blue Devils to take the lead. Senior Jess Lauck, freshman Katelyn Dennis and Paras all had two hits, while Morgan scored three runs to lead the game. Freshman Megan Degroat pitched with the record of 4-3 before Gannett came in in the seventh to get the final outs.

These two wins improve the Blue Devils to 8-0 in the conference, the best SUNYAC start in the program’s 20-year history.

The weekend was shortened due to inclement weather, but they pick it back up Wednesday April 15, playing away against Alfred University. SUNYAC conference games will continue for the Blue Devils on Friday, April 17, for home vs. Oneonta at 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday will also be home vs. New Paltz at noon and 2:30 p.m.
